What is the role of the EDG in strategy development?

The Enterprise Development Grant is Enterprise Singapore's support framework for substantial capability-building projects, and business strategy development is one of its core supported areas. For companies entering the strengthen-the-business phase, the EDG is the funding instrument that makes deep strategy work accessible.

Within the SJ Digital Media Solutions methodology, the EDG's role is specific:

• Scope fit: EDG-supported strategy projects cover exactly the foundation work SJ delivers first, strategic assessment, business model and value chain work, brand and marketing strategy, and the roadmap that sequences growth
• Consultant requirement: EDG management consultancy projects are delivered by certified consultants, and SJ's standing as a Registered Management Consultant recognised by Enterprise Singapore meets this requirement
• Assessment on merit: EDG applications are evaluated on project merit and the company's capacity to execute and benefit, which rewards the precisely scoped proposals and defined deliverables SJ prepares as standard
• Sequence position: EDG supports the strengthen phase; the MRA Grant then supports the expansion phase market by market, and the two may be held together provided the scopes do not overlap

Companies should note the framework's evolution: from the second half of 2026, the EDG is consolidated with the MRA and PSG into the EDGE Grant, a single application channel across grant types. SJ tracks the prevailing terms and structures each client's grant pathway accordingly, so the strategy phase is funded correctly and the expansion phases inherit a clean grant position.
